"Lorna's observations on the daily life of the farmer's wife had me laughing out loud in recognition ... written with great warmth and affection." Horse and Countryside

"She writes with authority and from experience and no doubt her sense of humour, much in evidence throughout the book, has enabled her to cope with the ups and downs of marrying a farmer." Today's Farm Magazine

Amazon Reviews:

Brilliant! I haven't stopped laughing yet!

Absolutely hilarious. Brutally honest anecdotes and situations even a city girl like myself could see, feel and almost taste.

A very funny but realistic view of farming.

Reading this is a pre-nuptial necessity. Written with wisdom and humour it outlines the historic background to present day farming marriages and land ownership in Ireland.

I thought this was a novelty book, the kind you would buy for a gentle joke at Christmas, but it is so much more. It's partly social history, cultural exploration, gender-studies, satire, biography and it's also a lot of fun. I'm married to a farmer and I worked as a vet, I know a lot of farming families and I found the book gave a great insight into what makes us all tick. (And gave me comfort that I am not the only farming spouse who sometimes wants to hit their farmer a dig in the ribs!)
