About Lorna

Hello readers, I’m Lorna, a dairy farmer and writer living in SE Ireland. My first book Would You Marry a Farmer? was inspired by an afternoon of 'working cattle' with my husband which may have included some swearing and shouting. I made so many mistakes as a farmer's wife, I wrote How to be a Perfect Farm Wife to help you avoid similar errors. Maybe you can attain perfect wife status, or near enough.

Not to leave men out (and yes, it may seem I've assumed farmers are male and their spouses female, but I address that in both books, I promise), An Ideal Farm Husband shows men how to be just that.

Till the Cows Come Home, a memoir about three generations of farmers here at Garrendenny came next.  My writing ground to a halt for a few years as, um, I was busy farming. We milk 160 cows, rear our own replacement heifers and finish some calves to beef.

My latest publication is Country Girl at Heart – a hilarious romantic comedy about a girl determined not to fall in love with any of the handsome rural Romeos.

I love chatting on social media so do say hello. I’m usually ambling home behind the cows along the leafy Garrendenny lane or in one of my ‘woman caves’ (calf shed or writing room) with at least two dogs. I’m addicted to tea and cake, I detest paperwork, I’m allergic to cow’s milk (great for a dairy farmer!) but cope fine with chocolate. If you have any questions, do ask on social media or use the Contact form.
